Ricky Proposed! Barbara said YES! | Duluth MN, Wedding Photographer

Months ago I was contacted by Richard, he had told me a little bit about how he wanted to propose to his girlfriend Barbara.. He had the most sweetest plan, so romantic, I was over the moon excited he contacted me and that he wanted to do this, I mean how special!  He planned this all to unfold at the Glensheen Mansion in Duluth. With the history there, and the beauty, he really made this moment something magical!   Regina, the event coordinator, had a huge part in helping make this happen, she was absolutely amazing!! .. I have to just jump right in and tell, so here’s my side of the story : I arrived about 30 minutes early.. i’m nervous as all heck, I mean Ricky and Regina both had spoke with me and we had this great plan, but of coarse I wanted to be sure I knew the light, and I knew the exact location it was going to take place, I wanted it to be perfect for him. I couldn’t even imagine at that point what he was thinking,  I’m sure he was a ball of nerves that whole morning!  When I spoke with him on the phone 2 days prior I could tell how anxious he was, I could just see him smiling from ear to ear through his voice over the phone lol, he was so excited. So I get in the gates, and I walk around the whole place. I admired all the beauty, the flowers, building, it felt like the most perfect day, the weather and everything couldn’t have been better! After a few minutes met up with Regina, before Ricky and Barbara get there, we go over the plan one last time and we parted, she went to go meet the couple and start their personal tour. So here I am even more nervous, walking around still pretty close to the location, not sure if I should be up on the balcony or not, I stayed below by the water fountain. I figured i’d see THEM coming, and just mosey my way up the stairs behind them. So after about 15 minutes, I peaked over my left shoulder and seen them coming from a distance, my heart started racing! I tried my hardest not to literally jump up and run to my spot lol.. but I slowly got up with camera in hands, and started walking, I was about 50 feet in front of them. I went up the stairs onto the balcony, I turned my back to them as they were some distance behind me and took photos of the scenery and flowers.. they walked passed to my left and went to the overlook to see the bridge.. Regina brought them back towards me, as i’m shooting through these plants by the big doors, I was trying not to look so suspicious taking photos of the little yellow butterflies fluttering around, they step down onto the top of the balcony, and Regina says her recited queue…  ” And this is where the magic happens”.. she steps to the side out of sight, and Ricky turns to Barbara…. and i’ll let the photos tell the rest of the story.. ❤
